
Cyprus recorded the eighth highest workforce percentage of firefighters in the EU in 2025, with 1,200 firefighters corresponding to 0,24 per cent of total employment in the country, according to data published by Eurostat on Monday.
Across the EU in 2025 there were 372,400 professional firefighters, representing 0.18 per cent of the total employment in the bloc.
Fire services relied on younger staff, with 74.7 per cent of all employed
