
Miami Beach now operates 49 stormwater pump stations across a barrier island that relied on gravity drainage for its first century of existence. The city has invested over $103 million in completed stormwater resilience projects since 2011 and committed to $500 million more, funded through an 84% increase in stormwater fees and local tax revenue. Its updated Stormwater Master Plan calls for 83 additional pump stations and approximately 104 miles
