A total of 726,000 birds were illegally killed in 2025 , BirdLife Cyprus said on Wednesday, presenting a survey that indicated that targeted enforcement delivers results, while progress can be easily reversed where deterrence weakens.
“Overall, trapping levels with mist nets were 4 per cent higher than autumn 2024. While this may appear marginal, the findings confirm that the level and consistency of enforcement directly influence trapping intensity,” BirdLife Cyprus
