Το μανταρίνι ήταν άγνωστο στην Ελλάδα πριν από την Επανάσταση του '21. Το έφερε στη χώρα μας ο ρώσος ναύαρχος Χέυδεν, που συμμετείχε στη Ναυμαχία του Ναβαρίνου.
