On August 26, 1898, 1,126 Russian Doukhobors arrived at the port of Larnaca on the French steamship Le Douro from Georgia.
After completing quarantine, 560 Doukhobors rented a 1,334-acre farm from the British colonial authorities in the Nicosia area.
